Coupons in the Jan. 4, 2009 paper!

Woohoo!! I'm so excited about the Qs coming out this weekend as I've been having withdrawals. Looks like they're making up for the weeks we've gone without Qs, as the paper will have FIVE inserts. Yep, FIVE; 2 Red Plum, 2 Smart Source, & one General Mills! I'm hoping this means we'll be getting the Red Plum in the mail as well. I usually get mine on Wens. so I'll have to wait and see. I'm not going to list the Qs in the paper as it's too long, but at first glance these are the ones that caught my eye for upcoming sales:

Tylenol Infants, Infant’s Motrin, or Simply Soothing – $2.50 off any 2
Children’s Tylenol, Children’s Tylenol Plus, Children’s Motrin, or Pedicare - $2.50 off any 2
Johnson’s Baby or Buddies product - $1.00 off any 1
Complete Multi-Purpose Solution 12oz + - $2.00 off any 1 (If you haven't bought yours at CVS get a raincheck then use this Q)

Don't remember seeing the next two going on sale but I'm sure they will:

OneTouch UltraSmart Blood Glucose Monitoring System – Save up to 30$ x01/31/09
OneTouch Ultra 2 or UltraMini Blood Glucose Monitoring System – Save up to 20$ x01/31/09

Chicken Spaghetti

For those of you out there who don't like spaghetti, I'm praying for you, because let me tell you; you are missing out! This dish has become a favorite in our family and I know it will be for yours too, unless you're one of the wierd ones who doesn't like spaghetti.

Again, I've made this as per the instructions and being true to myself I've also mixed it up. Let's see I've made it leaving out the vegetables (the family likes it best this way) and using Savory Herbs Cream of Chicken. I also sometimes cheat and use a rotisserie chicken especially if I can get it on manager's special at Krogers. Surely you knew that was coming. Here is the recipe with my changes.

Chicken Spaghetti

Adapted from Pioneer Woman

2 cups cooked chicken
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 can Cream of Chicken soup (or Savory Herbs)
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
3 cups dry spaghetti, broken into two inch pieces
2 cups reserved chicken broth from pot
1 teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoned Salt
1 teaspoon Onion powder

1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 additional cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

Cook 1 cut up fryer and pick out the meat to make two cups. Cook spaghetti in same chicken broth until al dente. DO NOT OVERCOOK. When spaghetti is cooked, combine with remaining ingredients except additional 1 cup sharp cheddar. Place mixture in casserole pan and top with remaining sharp cheddar. Cover and freeze up to six months, cover and refrigerate up to two days, or bake immediately: 350 degrees for 45 minutes until bubbly. (If the cheese on top starts to get too cooked, cover with foil.)

Yum, think I'm going to have to add this to the week's menu! For those of you who would like to try the original version you can get it here.

Total ECBs ?

*Aww, I'm sad that I had no entries. Oh well!

I was going through my ECBs to see if I had any expiring soon. After all I didn't want a repeat of Sat. night. So, while I was going through them I decided to count them and see just how much I had. All I can say is Wow and I'm glad to know I have one expiring Sunday. Want to know how many? I can't tell you, just yet. Why? Well, we're going to play a little game and whoever guesses right or gets the closest wins. Yep, and what is the prize coupons of course. Here are the details:

The winner will get 4 $1.50 Colgate Total Qs and 2 $3/$15 CVS Qs.

Here's how you can enter up to 3 guesses:

1. Leave a comment on this post telling me how much you think I have in ECBs.
2. Blog about this giveaway and leave a post that you did and where plus your guess.
3. You can also subscribe to my blog or be a follower then leave a post that you did plus your guess.

Make sure to leave your email address so that I can reach you if you win. The giveaway will end on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 11:59 CST.

My Sweet Robi Deal

1st Transaction testing the water!

5 Robi $20
3 Coty Perfumes $4.98
Subtotal: $24.98

Qs
5 Robi $11 (4 $2 MQ & 1 $3MQ)
3 Coty peelies $12
Total: $1.98
Got back $20 in RRs
Profit $18.02

Then I used the money I made to buy some things we needed i.e. milk and eggs. Of course since I had enough Qs I did the above deal again except I used 5 $2 Qs. Making my OOP $2.98 for a profit of $17.02!

Robi, Robi, Robi...

Woohoo! It's time for more Robi, as if I don't have enough already. When I first read about this deal I just couldn't believe it, that's just how great it is! Which means I just had to go out and try it, and it works. It turns out that there are a few overlapping deals, so till the 31st you can get back $20 RRs after that you'll get $15 and this one last till the 31st of next month. However the sale price of $4 is only this week.

Wondering what the deal is? Okay here it is.....You buy $20 dollars worth of Robitussin or Dimetapp and you get a $10 RR, plus you get a $5 RR for purchasing 3 Wyeth products. That's not all you also get a $5 RR for buying $10 in product for a grand total of $20 in RRs! What makes this such a great deal is that there are $2 Qs making this a MM. Here's how your transaction will look (you can buy all Robi or Dimetapp it's all the same):

3 Robi $12
2 Dimetapp $8
Subtotal $20

Qs
3 Robi $6
2 Dimetapp $4
Total: $10 plus tax (about $10.83)
Get back $10 RR, $5 RR, & $5 RR for a profit of $9.17!

Also if you have any RRs your OOP will be even lower. Just remember if you have enough Qs to do this deal twice you can't pay with the RRs from this deal if you do you won't get any more RRs. You can use RRs from another deal or just pay OOP. Either way it's a great deal!

Another note you should be able to print the Qs twice for the Robi and Dimetapp. However, I found out that if you're quick enough you can get up to six. After you hit the print box you'll get a box and you have to check yes as soon as you do this hit the back button twice, be quick and you might be lucky and get 6 like I did. If not do the four, then enter another email addy to get another 4. Happy shopping!

Why to get the FAECB items even if you don't need them.

Ok, I know many people think why am I going to go get that FREE item if I won't even use it? Yes, I can understand your thinking on this but you have to look beyond that. There is a reason to buy these products especially when there are coupons for them.

What is that reason....overage! You see overage means you can now buy items you do need right then by applying the overage towards that item(s).

How? It's very simple and I'm going to give you an example using one of the transactions I did last Sunday. So let's get started. Our transaction looks like this to begin with:

2 Listerine $5.98
RightGuard $6
2 Crest $5.98
Arm & Hammer $2.99
Benefiber $7.29
Subtotal: $28.24

Qs Used:
$2 Benefiber
$3 Crest
$1 A&H
$4/20 CVS Q
Total $18.24

Now if I pay with $17.47 in ECBs I'd owe .77 OOP, but I'd still make a profit of $10.00 ($28.24-$18.24=$10).

However I decide I need some pampers and want to buy the Mega pack that's on sale for $14.99. Which now means that overage of $10 is going to go towards my pampers and I'm going to use a $1.50 Q for an even sweeter deal.

Now when I pay I can do two things; pay using the amount or close to of ECBs I will be getting back ($28.24) or pay with ECBs getting as close to the total ($31.73) as possible meaning I "burn" around $3.49 in ECBs. Of course if you don't have that amount in ECBs you'll use what you have.

For those who like the breakdown it will now look like this:

2 Listerine $5.98
RightGuard $6
2 Crest $5.98
Arm & Hammer $2.99
Benefiber $7.29
Pampers $14.99
Subtotal: $43.23

Qs Used:
$2 Benefiber
$3 Crest
$1 A&H
$4/20 CVS Q
$1.50 Pampers
Total: $31.73
-$29.46 ECBs
=$2.27 OOP

Earn $28.24 ECBs
Making my cost $3.49 for a Mega pack of Pampers! After doing this it makes me wish I had done this deal. Oh, well I didn't "need" them!

I hope this helps you to understand how getting those FAECB items can be beneficial to you. Think of those things you do need/buy and don't have Qs for or don't go on sale at rock bottom prices this is how you can still get those things at great prices. Also don't forget CVS does sale food items.

I originally wasn't going to do these items, however I learned that Bro. TJ's class was going to continue collecting items for those in need. So, I figured I'd spend a small amount of money to make a big difference, in this case it cost me nothing but my time. I was planning to have a higher OOP but I remembered I had a $4/$20 that was fixing to expire, and this is what made it a MM. This is one of the nice things about having a stockpile as it allows me to have more items to give. Maybe one of these days I'll show it to you...maybe.

Mexican Lasagna

I love trying new recipes. Especially ones that are quick and easy, although occasionally I will try a more epicurean dish. Alright once or twice a year *gasp*! Hello, I'm not Martha Stewart, I'm more Betty Crocker. Hey my hubby loves the Betty in me anyways I'm getting sidetracked. Where was I?

Oh yea, new recipe. As I've mentioned before I LOVE Pioneer Woman, I mean I wanna be like her when I grow up. Don't laugh. Have you read her stuff, cooked her fantabulous dishes? No, then please wipe that look off your face. I know what you're doing!! STOP IT or I'll....I'll....I'll I don't know but it'll be really bad!

Forgive me, I just had chocolate cake, sugar rush.

This dish wasn't by Ree (PW) but was posted on her site by Pastor Ryan. The first time I made it according to the recipe the second time I changed it up. You can find the recipe here. Just a warning it makes a LOT of rice so you may want to cut the amount down.

The second time I changed it up by making the rice the way I normally do. I browned my meat and used the seasonings according to the recipe, however once it was done I added in some enchilada sauce. I did use the black beans adding them to the rice and to the meat since I had so much. I then layered it per the instructions excluding the green sauce as my family doesn't care for it. It was a hit! Only thing I'd do differently next time would be to add a layer of tortillas on top of the meat, so it won't fall apart so easily, I'm wierd like that.

The original recipe is really good, I liked it anyway. My family, not so much. However my family doesn't like tomatoes, can't eat onions, thinks salsa verde is gross, blah, blah, blah! Pray for me.
